Classic classic sushi. No frills here. Got a bit if everything. Scallop was a standout. And the raw shrimp and they deep fry the head for you. Uni wasn't as fresh as I expected for that price point.

There are so many Omakase places in NYC these days, it's amazing that sushi Yasuda being around 25 years and remains to be one of the best Omakase places in the city. Even without the previous famous chef Naomichi Yasuda, this joint continues to offer top quality sushi at a very reasonable price, especially considering this is a Michelin star restaurant. Booked the counter for 15 course omakase, our chef was pretty attentive from the start. Asked about anything I don't like in addition to food allergies, he went straight to work. He's an old school sushi chef, I watched him taking his time to make sure the fish gets warmed to body temperature then he took his time to make it with rice. His English was limited, stumbled a couple of times trying to tell me more about the fish, but I really didn't mind. The Omine sake was perfect pairing with each piece of sushi, the all wood minimalist decor makes it a perfect ambiance for omakase dinner. Unlike some other sushi places that are so quiet it makes it really awkward to talk, this place has decent amount of people chatting in the background without being noisy it actually makes it feel more comfortable and relaxing. He picked several pieces of fish that's not on the menu for me, each time it turned into a pleasant surprise. The only piece I didn't like was the cooper river sockeye salmon, even though it's a pretty expensive piece if ordered A la carte, it was just too fishy for me. Because he was just serving me, the pace itself was a bit too fast, an hour 10 minutes for 15 courses. All in all, it was a great experience, will definitely keep coming back whenever I get a chance.

This place has been on my list to try for omakase and we were able to sit at the bar for a special occasion. The decor was simple but elegant. Everything was great quality and delicious. However, the sushi kept coming to a point where we were stuffed and were confused on when it'll end. We questioned the chef and he said we have to tell him to stop which meant everything was priced at a la carte. This was a bit different from my usual omakase experience (usually a fixed number of pieces and price) and quite disappointed that they were not transparent from the start. That aside, we did have a great omakase experience and have learned our lesson for next time.

I've haven't been here for at least 8 years and having come back, I found that the sushi quality remains unwavering. Service is very attentive as my cup of tea was constantly filled. Great for small groups or large parties bit get reservations.

I hosted a businesses dinner here and while it was overall enjoyable, I was expecting just a bit more from a Michelin one star restaurant. All five of us had the 12 piece omakase and then ordered some sushi ala carte afterwards. Although we all ordered omakase, I liked that we did have the option for just one or two of us to get it unlike some restaurants where it's the entire table or none. The chef will take into account individual preferences, like whether you don't want eel, shrimp, etc. The sushi quality was excellent. Some of the appetizers, however, were disappointing. The edamame and boiled spinach with shaved bonito were fine though not outstanding. But the grilled salmon with teriyaki sauce and the fried prawns with green tea powder were huge misses--the salmon was hard and dry and prawns were skinny and not plump at all, covered with a sesame seed coat that hid any flavor. They did not make a good first impression and it was frankly very surprising in such a high quality restaurant. We were seated in a private room with a table for six, quiet and private but removed from the buzz of the main dining room so it can be good or bad depending on your group. Service throughout was outstanding--we never waited long for a server, cups were refilled regularly, and dishes came out quickly (sometimes a little too quickly). Service-wise, Sushi Yasuda holds itself to the standards in Japan, where this is common in a high end restaurant. It leaves me to wonder if the Michelin one star comes from the ambience and service more than the food. At more than $260/person including tax and tip, I'm not sure I would come back soon.

We had an exquisite business dinner at Sushi Yasuda. The Omakase sushi orders were magnificent, and the service was as efficient as possible. We debated the accompanying sake, and our waiter was helpful, offered samples, and gave us sound advice. The room we were in was one of the relatively smaller ones of several and a bit noisy due to a loud partying group. I wish the staff assisted in keeping the noise level down, but I can see how it could have been challenging. I will return to Yasuda as soon as I replenish my expenses account :)

Wonderful Omakase Birthday dinner at the sushi bar. We did the 16 piece set and it was more than enough, and really made for a memorable and special dinner. So fresh, incredible quality, and seasoned perfectly so that you didn't even need any soy sauce. Service was wonderful and they were so kind and attentive. Clean minimalist Japanese aesthetics, but it still exuded a warm welcoming environment. Stand outs included the Hokkaido Uni, Norwegian King salmon, Toro, Maguro, and Ikura. Honestly, it was all truly amazing, but next time we may ask to omit the squid (too chewy). Beautiful fruit presentation with a bday candle at the end, with an aromatic hojicha tea was a lovely way to end the lovely dinner. We just love Yasuda and can't wait to return again.
